Reconstructing Memories Lecture

Aaron Kerner presents his lecture "Making Memories." Curator of the exhibition "Reconstructing Memories," Kerner is an assistant professor in the Cinema Department at San Francisco State University. As evidenced in his curatorial work and publications, Kerner's research focuses on issues of representing catastrophic events.
He was curator of the exhibition "Collapsing Histories" in its presentations at the Daigo Fukuryu Maru Exhibition Hall and Gallery éf in Tokyo, 2004; Mary Porter Sesnon Gallery, University of California Santa Cruz, 2003; and Lisa Coscino Gallery, Pacific Grove, California, 2002. He wrote the introductory essay for Katsushige Nakahashi's exhibition catalogue, 2006, and his essay “Gojira vs. Godzilla” appears in Ritual and Event, edited by Mark Franko. He is currently working on a book entitled Representing the Catastrophic.
He has a PhD in sociology from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, and holds a MA in Cultural Studies from the University of Leeds and a BA in Art History from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
