Hawai'i Bibliovision November 2006:
Critically-acclaimed poet, William S. Merwin, is featured on Hawai'i Bibliovision, Tuesday, November 7, 8 pm, Olelo 55.
W. S. Merwin kicks off the Marjorie Sinclair Putnam Edel Reading Series, established by the UH-Manoa English Department and the College of Language, Linguistics, and Literature. The Reading Series honors Marjorie Putnam Sinclair Edel’s memory as a poet, novelist, biographer, and UHM teacher who made lasting contributions to Hawaii’s and the University’s literary communities from 1935 to the twenty-first century. The Reading Series seeks to highlight three of Marjorie Putnam Sinclair Edel’s life-long interests: poetry, Hawai'i and Hawaiian culture. The Series is also an attempt to provide students and the community at large valuable contact with writers of international reputation.
Hawai'i Bibliovision is very proud to be able to include in this same episode a roundtable with W. S. Merwin and Victoria Kalani Kneubel (playwright) in a discussion on the blossoming of the arts in contemporary Hawai'i.
