World Town Planning Day

The University of Hawai'i will celebrate World Town Planning Day with an informational booth on planning at Campus Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a colloquium entitled, "Homeless in Hawai'i: Shelter, Services and Policy Options."

The colloquium will be held at the School of Architecture Auditorium - Room 205. It will begin with a presentation of a study on homelessness.

The first panel, to begin at 4 p.m. will feature well-known UH faculty reacting to the presentation including Neal Milner, Sumner LaCroix, Ron Matayoshi, Karen Umemoto and Dolores Foley.

The second panel, beginning at 6:30 will involve various professional planners and service providers including Darlene Hein (Waikiki Health Center), Keith Ishida (City and County of Honolulu), Sandra Miyoshi (State of Hawai'i), and Margot Schrire (Institute for Human Services).

There will also be a reception (5:30 p.m.) and an awards ceremony.

World Town Planning Day was started more than 40 years ago by Professor Carlos Maria della Paolera, University of Buenos Aires to advance public and professional interest in planninig. It is now celebrated in more than 30 countries around the world.
