"Comparison of molecular amplification techniques and culture for enterococcus water quality measurements," Douglas F. Moore, Ph.D., Director, Public Health Laboratory, Orange County Health Care Agency. Abstract: Quantitative PCR and Transcription Mediated Amplification (TMA) were utilized to measure the concentration of Enterococcus contained in ocean recreational water, storm drain water and sewage. The results were compared to standard membrane filtration/mEI culture techniques. The presentation will cover the molecular procedures utilized, a qualitative and quantitative comparison of the results of each technique and an analysis of the discrepant results.
