Hawai'i Bibliovision, Olelo 55
September 4, 8:00pm - 9:00pm
Hawai'i Bibliovision proudly begins its third season with a colloquium featuring French Polynesian writers Flora Devatine, Rai a Mai, Celestine Hitiura Vaite, and Kareva Mateata-Allain. These writers were in Hawai'i to celebrate the publication of the first anthology of its kind -- Varua Tupu: New Writing from French Polynesia. Varua Tupu offers English-speaking readers the stories, memoirs, poetry, photography, and paintings of a French Polynesian artistic community that has been growing in strength since the 1960s. Varua Tupu was edited by Frank Stewart, Kareva Mateata-Allain, and Alexander Dale Mawyer, who moderates the colloquium.
Varua Tupu is the Winter 2005 issue of Manoa: a Pacific Journal of International Writing. Please visit http://www.hawaii.edu/mjournal/text/issues/issueslist-page.html for more information.
Hawai'i Bibliovision features a new episode the first Tuesday of every month (September to December; February to May), 8 pm, on Olelo 55.
