Archaeology Lecture: An AUKward Proposal
September 10, 3:00pm - 4:30pmManoa Campus, Crawford 115
The early peopling of the New World has been a topic of intense research since the early twentieth century. Dr. Bruce Bradley (University of Exeter, UK) contends that the exclusive focus of research on a Beringian entry point has not been productive. Evidence has accumulated over the past two decades indicating that one of the earliest origins of people in North America may have been from south-western Europe during the last glacial maximum. In this presentation he outlines a theory of a Solutrean origin for Clovis culture and briefly summarizes the archaeological data supporting this assertion.
