"A Kanaka In Santa Fe: Observations on the Narrations of History in Public Spaces in Santa Fe, New Mexico."
Santa Fe, New Mexico is an Indian art center, tourist attraction, historical site of Spanish colonization, and the state capital. This presentation examines how history is narrated in public monuments and art through the eyes of a Kanaka Hawai'i, noticing what is celebrated and what is elided or erased.
