WHAT:
The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) hosts the 19th annual Waimanalo Plant Science Field Day. The public is invited to celebrate CTAHR’s Centennial and join in on various activities including field displays, booths on Hawai‘i’s agriculture research, tasty sweet corn, tours and discussions led by CTAHR faculty, staff and students.
Field trials displaying research with:
• Pepper, Sweet Corn, Taro, Malunggay, and other Vegetables
• Papayas, Coffee, Cacao, Kava, and other Fruit/Nut Crops
• Plumerias, Gingers, Ornamental trees, and other Ornamentals
• Bioenergy Options for Hawai‘i
• Organic Agriculture for Hawai‘i
• Biotechnology in Hawai‘i (GMOs, RILs, NILs, Dihaploids)
• Indigo Dye; A crop for Hawaii?
• The ART and SCIENCE and JOY of Crop Improvement
Booths and Tent Displays of:
• Chef Alfredo and KCC students in Culinary Arts with unusual sweet corn dishes
• CTAHR – Its Centennial
• Hawai‘i Crop Improvement Association; Hawai‘i’s Growing Seed Industry
• Hawai‘i Agriculture Research Center; Hawai‘i’s Growing Diversified Agriculture
