Title:
From Final Fantasy to Spiderman 3: Evolution of Realistic Performance Animation
Description:
The essence of success for the evolution of character animation is emotionally multifaceted characters. To this end we will analyze the performance animation techniques used in "The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers" for the split personality characters of Gollum / Sméagol, the first motion captured feature film "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" and "The Animatrix".
In conjunction with realistic full body performance animation, the next generation of character animation will be accurate facial animation, featuring a higher level of detail for more lifelike actions. We will discuss the making of the facial animation featured in "Spider-man 2" and "Spider-man 3" through digital human acquisition techniques including image based rendering for photo-real skin, Cyberware scanning, facial motion capture and animation systems.
