Human Rights in China & the Beijing Olympics

Professor Jon Van Dyke from the UH Law School will review the status of human rights in China, and discuss the role of human rights in China's foreign relations as well as the impact of China's human rights record on the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Jon Van Dyke has served on the UH faculty since 1976, teaching constitutional law, international law, and international human rights. He has authored and edited numerous books, including “Freedom for the Seas in the 21st Century” which won him the Harold and Margaret Sprout Award in 1994 by the International Studies Association. He has served as the Director of the Spark M. Matsunaga Institute for Peace (1988-1990).
This event is among activities for the Human Rights in China Awareness Week at UH (Oct 22-29).
