Maori Goddesses and Maori Women: From Cosmic Beginnings to Colonial Endings--a lecture by Professor Aroha Yates-Smith, Dean of the School of Maori and Pacific Development at the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand.
Prof. Yates-Smith will talk on specific Maori goddesses and provide an overview of Maori women's roles in Maori society, from cosmological times through to the present day, including some discussion about the impact that colonization has had on Maori women.
The lecture begins at 11:30; reception to follow at 1:00.
