Diversity Matters at Manoa
March 10, 2008 - March 14, 2008Mānoa Campus, Campus Center from March 10-14th
What is diversity and does it matter? The MÄnoa Commission on Diversity asks you to think about this, share your ideas and participate in activities that are showcased at the Campus Center starting on Monday, March 10 until Friday, March 14th. Diversity Matters at MÄnoa is an opportunity to hear, see and participate in diversity issues within the context of a university setting . Activities include a student colloquia that showcases research on race, ethnicity and cultural differences, workshops that promote deliberative dialogue on public issues, Safe zone training by the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Intersex Student Services, a series of lectures that preserve endangered languages, a special guest lecturer explores Native Hawaiian health and healing issues, and a chance to gain insight of how technology revolutionized education for those with disabilities. Diversity at a university campus means honoring and respecting differences, eliminating discrimination and harassment and working for a society that is socially responsible and inclusive. Yes, Diversity Matters at MÄnoa!
