Water Quality Conference

October 30, 2008 - October 31, 2008
Pagoda Hotel, Rycroft St. Honolulu

"How Clean or Polluted are Hawaii's Drinking and Recreational Waters?"

Is it safe to swim at Hawaii's beaches? Is our drinking water really safe? Do the regulations we follow really protect us?

Come to this conference for a discussion of these issues. Local and Mainland experts will be speaking.

Conference Goals:

1) To focus on the use of water quality monitoring data as the basis for determining the degree of pollution and relative safety of recreational and drinking water in Hawaii.

2) To initially review the adequacy of routine monitoring data for recreational waters to meet the Clean Water Act/Beach Act) and for drinking waters to meet the Safe Drinking Water Act.

3) To assess the degree of pollution and health risk posed by these same water sources based on routine quality monitoring data as well as other monitoring data and applying the weight of evidence approach.
