"Rebuilding the Ahupaua’a in Wai’anae-bringing back the water, the land, the people, and Haloa"

by Eric M. Enos, Executive Director, Ka’ala Farm, Inc.

The Wai’anae Coast, with one of the highest concentration of Native Hawaiians and other people of like mindedness, has historically been a place of refuge. Here is one story of bringing back the water, connecting abandoned ancestral gardens with a revival of cultural practices by reclaiming our past, our present and our future. We are re-building our families by restoring a working sustainable ahupua’a future.
