“Kumiudui: World Intangible Cultural Asset”

Created by Tamagusuku Chokun in 1719 and performed for envoys from China, Kumiudui is a classical theatrical art of Okinawa.

Performed for envoys from China, Kumiudui has been designated a world intangible asset. Professor Manabu Oshiro, University of Ryukyus, will discuss the history, features and importance of this art.

A DVD introducing Kumiudui will be shown. This talk will be in Japanese and be translated into English.
