1 in 4 - National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April 6, 11:00am - 2:00pm
Mānoa Campus, QLC, Manoa campus Add to Calendar

One in four college women report surviving rape or attempted rape (Hirsch, 1990, Warsaw, 1994). The University of Hawai‘i at Manoa has 11,200 women enrolled, and the startling reality is that 2,820 of these students will be or have been sexually assaulted.

On April 5th and 6th, 2,820 teal flags will be placed around Varney Circle to represent these women.

The PAU Violence Program and the Women’s Center will have an information table from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Queen Lili‘uokalani Center for Student Services lanai on both days.

Staff and volunteers will be available to explain the purpose of the flags and to provide more information about sexual assault, including resources for getting help both on and off campus.
