UH Manoa Student Voting Drive

April 23, 2012 - May 3, 2012
Mānoa Campus, Various Add to Calendar

Students are chronically underrepresented in the electorate and their concerns are therefore marginalized in state and local policy. We want to change this in Hawaii, and are calling for instructor and student help to begin changing the culture on this campus.

INSTRUCTORS

We are asking faculty to dedicate 15 minutes of class/meeting time during the week of April 23 to May 2, to have students register to vote. We have trained volunteers who can come to your class, answer student questions, and register them to vote. The entire process will take 15 minutes.

Please take a minute now to complete a brief online request at http://kanu.me/uhvotes and we will send a volunteer to your class/meeting. Please send requests by the deadline of Wednesday, April 18.

STUDENTS:

If you would like to have this service in your classes, we encourage you to speak with your instructors and ask them if class time can be spared for voter registration. If you are interested in volunteering to help us in this effort, we would love to have you.

The time commitment is small: a training session on Thursday, April 19 at 5:30 in Kuykendall 410, followed by signing up (based on your schedule) to visit a few classes or to register your own classes. Please contact aikoy@hawaii.edu by Wednesday, April 18.
