Food Safety Workshops for Farmers, Distributors, Exporters, & Processors
September 19, 8:00am - 5:00pmHawai'i Department of Agriculture Plant Quarantine Conference Room, 1849 Auiki St., Honolulu, HI
The Produce Marketing Association (PMA), a prominent national trade organization supporting the fresh produce supply chain, has joined forces with the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, the Hawai'i Department of Agriculture, Costco, Safeway, Subway, and Sodexo to deliver 2 one-day workshops, one on O'ahu and one on the Big Island, uniquely tailored to help Hawai'i farmers, distributors, exporters, and processors of fresh produce develop and implement a food safety plan for their business.
Consumers value fresh and local produce, but above all, they want to be able to trust the quality and safety of the products they buy.
Attendees will better understand the evolving supplier food safety requirements as well as the needs of other retailers and restaurants. By the end of the workshop, they will learn how to implement food safety plans and protect their businesses.
Through presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and discussions with national experts, participants will gain a better understanding of the importance of their roles as a farmers, distributors, exporters, or processors.
They will also get the tools needed to build their own customized food safety plan based on their entity's specific business model. Participants are encouraged to join Hawai'i's leading farmers, distributors, exporters, and processors for one of these important sessions and stay ahead of the food safety curve.
