October 30, 3:00pm - 4:15pmManoa Campus, Art Building, Rm. 101
Tokyo-based textile artist Kei Tsuji is a Professor of Art at the Tohoku University of Art & Design.
Tsuji is best known for her site-specific textile installations. Kei Tsuji studied art, and specialized in dyeing at Tama Art University where she earned her BFA in 1977, and her MFA in 1979. As Tsuji became more involved in theatrical design, she began to produce three-dimensional works. Since the late 80s she has been actively carrying out field work and presenting installation works around the world. By placing the fabric as a surrogate self in natural environments, Tsuji seeks to explore the interrelationship between self and the natural world.
