International Elder Law Training Conference--Veterans Focus

The University of Hawaii Elder Law Program (UHELP) at the William S. Richardson School of Law will present an International Elder Law Conference with a Veterans’ Focus on November 12, & 13 at the Hale Koa Hotel.

We will have participation by UH professors, specialized Veterans Court Judges, the Director of VA Hawaii Regional Office, health care professionals from the VA at the Tripler Campus as well as doctors, lawyers, social workers, and veterans advocates from our community and beyond. UH Emerita Professor Beverly Keever will make a special presentation on her experiences as a war correspondent for eight years in Vietnam.

Two VCLE and 6 MCPE credits will be offered for lawyers and 8 CEUs credits for social workers have been approved. Highlights include:

• Veteran Courts and Veteran Advocates

• Special Issues of Women in the Military and Women Veterans

• Psychological and Legal Issues and Support for PTSD and TBI Injuries

• Divorce Issues and Special Needs Planning for Military Families

• Elder Law and Veterans Law Resource Development in the Community.
