In May 2014, our second cohort of COE students from the Institute for Teacher Education Elementary, Secondary, and MEdT programs visited Japan for a one-week field study.

During this field study, our teacher candidates had the opportunity to:
*Learn more about the Japanese culture, including dining etiquette, formal conversation, the dynamics of gift-giving, and learning to navigate the city of Kyoto
*witness the dynamics of the Japanese educational system experience cross-cultural exchange with Japanese teacher candidates from Bukkyo University
*observe multiple school settings at the Elementary and Secondary grade levels
*plan, develop, and teach a full lesson plan to multiple Japanese classrooms
*take in the sights and sounds of the truly wonderful and vibrant city of Kyoto

This field-study was a unique cross-cultural experience that our students will never forget. They are eager to share with you their experiences and we hope you can join us for their culminating presentation.

Everyone is invited to view this group presentation: Guests will gain insight on the cross-cultural experiences of our students as they share their observations and takeaways from the experience in multiple contexts.
