The Department of Regional & Urban Planning hosts "Transformative Planning - Is It Possible?" with renowned planning scholar John Friedmann on Friday, February 13, 4 p.m. at Saunders 116.

This informal talk engages one of the perennial hopes expressed by urban planning students that planning can lead to social, economic, and political “transformation.” After a brief presentation of ideas, we will have an open, interactive discussion.

John Friedmann is an Honorary Professor in the School of Community and Regional Planning at the University of British Columbia, and Professor Emeritus in the School of Public Policy and Social Research at UCLA. In 2006, he was the recipient of the first UN-Habitat Lecture Award for lifetime achievement in the service of human settlements.
