Safe Zone Training: LGBTQ+ Safety and Inclusion

February 22, 10:30am - 12:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Campus Center 309/310 Add to Calendar

Description: We invite the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa to attend this session, facilitated by Camaron Miyamoto from UH Mānoa’s LGBTQ+ Center and Isaac A. Rodriguez from the Office of Title IX. A focus will be placed on sex discrimination and gender-based harassment and their intersections with Title IX and our Interim EP 1.204 – Interim Policy and Procedure on Sex Discrimination and Gender-Based Violence.

We will discuss allyship for underrepresented groups, including LGBTQ+ populations, and share strategies to challenge micro-aggressions in various campus settings. LGBTQ+ is an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, and others. It refers to a population of people united by having gender identities or sexual orientations that differ from the heterosexual and cisgender majority.

Participants will receive a certificate and Safe Zone sign upon completion of the training.

Sponsored By: UH Mānoa Chancellor’s Office, UH Mānoa Office of Title IX, UH Mānoa LGBTQ+ Center.
