February 16, 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Hamilton Library 301 Add to Calendar

The Tale of Genji, a story of Heian court life written at the beginning of the 11th century, lies at the center of the premodern Japanese literary canon. Dr. Yuichiro Imanishi 今西祐一郎博士, Director-General of the National Institute of Japanese Literature 国文学研究資料館, is a respected scholar of the work. He will help unravel its secrets and share his theories on how this tale, which depicts imperial succession with such disrespect, came to be written. Please join the public lecture on February 16, 2017, 3:00-6:00 pm at Room 301, the UHM Hamilton Library.

The event is free but online pre-registration is required. http://guides.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/registration/
