Streambed Clearing

To help ensure a clean and steady flow of water to the ocean, clearing Waimea Valley’s streambeds is critical, yet strenuous work. Keeping the Valley’s three streams – Kamananui, Elehāhā, and Kaiwikoele – clear of debris and invasive growth prevents flooding and ensure the year-round health of Waimea’s native ecosystems. Duties may include pulling invasive plants and/or cleaning up trash and storm debris.

Gear needs:

  • Closed toed shoes that can get wet (REQUIRED)
  • Bug protection
  • Sun protection
  • Water
Desired skills and abilities:
  • Moderate physical fitness
  • Comfortable navigating uneven terrain (i.e. streambeds)
  • Comfortable kneeling and bending
*** This service project is for ages 18 and up or 16 and up with a parent in attendance. ***
