An introduction to the basic structure of the Japanese language, including proper pronunciation, grammar, basic vocabulary, and simple everyday conversation.
Elementary 1 follows lessons 1 through 6 of Japanese for Busy People, Volume I. In addition to the lessons, classes include language study through games, activities, demonstrations of Japanese culture, and practice with native Japanese speakers.
Kayoko Fukunaga Madsen, MA, has taught Japanese credit/non-credit courses at Hawaii Pacific University, Kapiolani Community College and the University of Hawaii at Manoa since 1997.
