‘Ike Pono: Designing Political and Economic Systems

May 29, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Mānoa Campus, John A. Burns Hall, Room 3121 (3rd Floor) Add to Calendar

"We are 21st century citizens doing our very best to interact with 19th century designed institutions built with an information technology of the 15th century. I am convinced that it is up to us to design the political and economic systems for the internet generation." –Pia Mancini, 2014

Wikis, the blockchain, open source initiatives and social media are transforming the democratic systems of our time. These technologies have powered an “Open World” movement that is pushing society from the Industrial Age into an Age of Networked Intelligence. The presentation will explain this movement, reveal its foundations, examine its tools, and provide a vision of what the political and economic systems of the internet generation will look like.
