Dr. Zhai Zheng served as the PRC director of UHM’s Confucius Institute until it closed in May 2019, and is currently a visiting associate professor affiliated with Manoa’s College of Social Sciences. His research interests are in the fields of political communication, media studies, as well as American culture and society. He is the author/co-author of five monographs, including New Horizons in Intercultural Com- munication (2015) and A Historical Study on the Modern White House Communications Operations: 1897-2009 (2012), seven college textbooks used throughout China, and over twenty papers. He was a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at Carroll College, Helena, Montana from 2005 to 2006. He is the director of Info USA@BFSU, an American Cultural Center supported by the US Em- bassy Beijing, and secretary general of the China Association for Intercultural Communication.
