February 13, 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Mānoa Campus, St. John 401 Add to Calendar

The Joseph Rock Herbarium will be holding an open house during the afternoon of Thursday, February 13th. Join us in celebrating "Darwin Day", an international celebration of curiosity for the natural world, intellectual bravery, and the diversity of forms evolved on Earth. Natural history collections throughout the world hold open houses and events. Darwin Day is actually on the 12th (Charles Darwin's birthday in 1809), but we will be celebrating on Thursday February 13th for logistical reasons.

All students, faculty, and the general public are encouraged to visit the herbarium, where we will have endemic Hawaiian plants, rare specimens, and a diversity of plant vouchers on display. There will also be also be volunteer activities set up for people interested in participating. The Joseph Rock Herbarium was founded in 1908, and houses ~50,000 specimens with a focus on Hawaii's native ferns and angiosperms. Please join us in supporting this important natural history collection!
