Dr. Yuanan Lu is a Professor of Environmental Health and Epidemiology with the UH Office of Public Health Studies. One of his research interests focuses on employing cutting-edge molecular biology and virology technology for the development of new approaches for enhanced early detection of viral infection and novel preventive and therapeutic strategies to combat pathogenic viruses of human and marine species.

He will give an overview of COVID-19 from the initial outbreak in Wuhan China, current spread in the U.S. and elsewhere, therapeutic approaches and vaccine development, and adverse impact on global health.
