Toward a Reconnection with Irish Gender Identity

March 17, 9:00am - 10:00am
Mānoa Campus, Online Add to Calendar

Join us for a discussion of gender in the Irish language, viewed through a framework of decolonization. We admit that the limitations in research, of source materials, and of current working theories lead to many unknowns. Duality, liminality, triplicity, and trans*-istionary shape shifting are plentiful in native vernacular literature, but we wonder how much of, and to what extent, that literature has been filtered through the lens of Christanity, colonization, and modernity.
