Helen Keller’s Not Real?! Developing a Media Literacy Curriculum for 9th Gr.

Speaker: Jennifer Agena, Upper School Librarian, ‘Iolani School. This presentation will walk you through the development of the Media Literacy curriculum for ‘Iolani School’s half-quarter (approx. 5 weeks) course required for all 9th graders. This highly practical session will include course objectives and topics, sample lessons and activities, and other course materials. Jennifer Agena has been an Upper School Librarian at ‘Iolani School for the past three years. Prior to that, she worked as a Librarian at McKinley High School. Jennifer graduated with her MLIS degree from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. She has been teaching the Media Literacy course at ‘Iolani since its creation in 2020.
