"‘Scientist to Social Entrepreneur’ An Extraordinary Journey of Growth and Impact" with Dr. Kalpana Sankar and moderated by Dr. Maya Soetoro ------- About Session: A candid interaction with Dr. Kalpana Sankar, co-founder of Hand in Hand India and Managing Director of Belstar Microfinance to traverse her journey from a nuclear physicist to a social entrepreneur. Through her group of institutions, she has created jobs for 8 million women entrepreneurs at the bottom of the pyramid, put 350,000 children back into mainstream education, ensures segregation of waste of 670,000 households every day and creates access to healthcare for 100,000 people every day through public health platforms. Dr. Sankar is to launch a book on her journey in summer 2024. ------- About Speaker: Dr. Kalpana Sankar's extraordinary transition from nuclear physics to financial inclusion is a testament to her remarkable journey, bringing a unique and invaluable perspective to the realms of finance and development. Her unconventional background infuses the world of finance with scientific precision, enriching the approach to social impact. Dr. Sankar’s initiation into development work began with a focus on eliminating child labor, but her visionary leadership swiftly broadened the horizon to include women empowerment, environment, skill development and health.
