"April Fool! Almost Six Decades Later the Tsunami of 1946 Still Tricks Us" by Gerard Fryer, Associate Geophysicist, Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology. The tsunami of April 1, 1946 was Hawai‘i's greatest modern disaster with 159 fatalities, but it was far too big for the Aleutian earthquake that caused it. There is heated debate about whether the tsunami was caused by the earthquake or a giant landslide.
