Symposium on Protecting Indigenous Identities

The William S. Richardson School of Law’s Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal is excited to present its annual symposium. This year’s theme is entitled: “Protecting Indigenous Identities: Struggles & Strategies Under International & Comparative Law.” Admission to symposium events is free! Refreshments will be provided.

On Friday, February 25, all symposium events will be at the William S. Richardson School of Law, Classroom 3 (2515 Dole Street). From 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., a panel discussion entitled "Environmental vs. Development Interests: Effects on Indigenous Peoples in the Pacific Region: Focusing on Hawai'i" will be moderated by Professor Davianna McGregor of the University of Hawai'i. A light lunch will be provided between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. From 1:00 until 2:30 p.m., Chief Judge Joe Williams of the Maori Land Court, Waitangi Tribunal will discuss "The Maori Experience: Lessons for Hawai'i?"
