Collapsing Histories lecture by Aaron Kerner

March 14, 2005 - March 7, 2005
Mānoa Campus, UH Art Building, Room 101

Aaron Kerner, assistant professor at San Francisco State University and curator of the international art exhibition "Collapsing Histories," will discuss the exhibition's concepts and artworks that address the obscuring of cultural and personal memory and confront core issues of constructing historical narratives.

Twelve artists consider the relationship between memory and history, and demonstrate the fragility and tenous nature of human memory, upon which history is based. Many of the artists draw upon the cultural depositories of knowledge, the stories of their families, or by visiting sites charged with history.
