Introduction - Demonstration - Discussion on use of NovaNET
August 18, 2:00pm - 4:00pmManoa Campus, Wist 130

NovaNET school curriculum software from Pearson Digital Learning is a comprehensive e-learning system that links students, teachers, and technology. The result of more than 30 years of research (originally developed at the University of Illinois - Campaign Campus as the PLATO system and used at UH as UH-PLATO from 1985-95), NovaNET links educators with comprehensive, standards-based online courseware for middle school, high school and adult learners.
NovaNET has recently been introduced in adult community schools, middle schools, and high schools on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii. A longer-established program has been used for the homeless populations on Maui at the "Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center" where they have successfully re-connected dropouts with productive educational and job training programs.
NovaNET is slated as one of the resources being made available to Big Island middle schools participating in the upcoming STARnet No Child Left Behind project.
This presentation will feature background, introduction, demonstration and hands-on experience for those attending. Discussion on possible use for UH Manoa College of Education and Education Laboratory School will follow the program.
