Waiahole: Ho'i Ka Wai
January 25, 2006 - February 28, 2006Honolulu Campus, Native Hawaiian Center Bldg 7-432
Waiahole: Ho'i Ka Wai is a pictoral documentary featuring artists Anne Kapulani Landgraf and Mark Hamasaki. In 1913, no one asked permission to take the Waiahole water; the water was just appropriated.
Subsequently, the people of Waiahole were forced to give up their liveihood. For Hawai'i's people, water is not a commodity to be controlled by private landowners and profit-minded companies. The issue is protecting the natural resources of Hawai'i. It's about how we want this island to look in the future and how the people will nurture this land. Please stop by the Native Hawaiian Center at Honolulu Community College to view Waiahole: Ho'i Ka Wai.
