Filipino Dance and Music

"Appreciating Filipino music and dance," commentary, demonstration, and performance. Various kinds of Filipino music and dance will be presented and described, showing the ways in which these expressive forms are part of the culture’s values and traditions. It will feature the Lowland rondalla string ensemble and genres of presentational dance from the three main cultural regions of the Archipelago.
The major presentors are Manoa faculty H. Wayne Mendoza, faculty in dance, and Ricardo D. Trimillos, ethomusicologist and Asian studies dhair. The 8-member group includes Stuart Nago, music faculty at Kapi‘olani Community College, and students of Filipino music and dance at Manoa.
