University of Hawai'i Centennial Celebration

The University of Hawai'i at Manoa, the flagship campus of the University of Hawai'i system, will begin its Centennial Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007.

The University is celebrating its educational achievements by Honoring our Past, Celebrating our Present and Creating our Future. For the next 18 months there will be events focusing on how the University of Hawai'i at Manoa has enhanced the rich heritage of the Hawaiian Islands. We are Sharing the Pride with our community.

We will Kick Off our eighteen month long Celebration with a Campus Wide Open House on Sat., Jan. 13, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be activities for all ages. Free to the Public. The Celebration starts on the Hawai.i Hall lawn.

Lectures include such topics as “Birds of Hawai.i” and “How to prepare for a natural disaster.” Student organizations will have games and prizes for the keiki. Come watch a rehearsal of Kennedy Theatre’s Kyogen production. Listen to the sounds of the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble, along with many of UHManoa’s own musical ensembles. The University Dance Ensemble will perform in front of Kennedy Theatre and there will be hands-on activities for all ages provided by astronomy and physics departments. We will have food, drinks and fun for the whole family. On-campus parking is free.
