Aloha to the Web with Norm Abramson
January 23, 8:00pm - 9:00pmPEG Access cable channel 55 and the Internet
This month's High Tech Hawai'i features a pre-recorded presentation by Norm Abramson, Professor Emeritus of the University of Hawai'i and father of the Aloha protocols, which underlie the Internet and most modern networks in use today.
Dr. Abramson will describe the development of the Aloha protocols to create the Aloha Network, the first wireless packet data network in the world, which connected the Hawaiian islands. Lessons from this early work are also applied to today's Internet.
High Tech Hawai‘i is a monthly call-in show produced by UH to shed light on a variety of high technology issues. Broadcasts air live throughout the state from 8 to 9pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month during the academic school year over PEG Access cable channel 55. Programs air live via cable on all islands except Maui where it is tape-delayed. Normally questions may be called in during the live airing of the program, however no calls will be taken during this pre-recorded presentation.
