What Sound Does a Color Make?
March 4, 2007 - April 13, 2007Manoa Campus, University of Hawai'i Art Gallery
Ever wonder about how we perceive with our five senses, and how those perceptions might be connected? Could seeing a color make you hear, smell, or feel something? "What Sound Does a Color Make?" is an art exhibition that explores those possibilities through immersive sensory environments and time-based videos. These works were created by a diverse, internationally recognized group of artists who linked and manipulated sound with image, and image with sound. The exhibition relates the recent boom of digital audiovisual art to its pre-digital roots through the presentation of nine contemporary works and four single-channel videos from the 1970s.
