Visual Thinking in Animation: Storytelling and Emotion Through Artistic Choices
March 19, 7:00pm - 9:00pmManoa Campus, Art Auditorium
Lighting, color, tone, line, dynamics, and rhythm are all orchestrated in a film to subtly manipulate the viewers’ emotions. Kathy Altieri will present an overview of the artistic choices one can make and how they are woven through a film. We will look at development artwork as well as finished frames from live action and animated films, focusing on the intent of the storyteller and the artistic choices made to support that intent.
Kathy Altieri's filmography includes: Art Director for The Prince of Egypt; Production Designer for Over the Hedge and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron; Aladdin; The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
