"A Conversation with Dr. John Hope Franklin"

This public presentation features prominent historian John Hope Franklin, the first Dan and Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals at UH Manoa. A celebrated scholar of American southern history and the African American experience, Franklin, the James B. Duke Professor Emeritus of History at Duke University, is perhaps best known for his book "From Slavery to Freedom: A History of African-Americans, of which more than three million copies have been sold.
The Dan and Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals is jointly housed in the Department of American Studies in the College of Arts and Humanities and the William S. Richardson School of Law.
This presentation will be moderated by Dr. James Horton, a visiting professor in the Department of American Studies and the Benjamin Banneker Professor of American Studies and History at George Washington University.
