Gallery tour of What Sound Does a Color Make?

James Hearon, assistant professor of music, will present a brief history of video and sound technology and discuss the works in the art exhibition "What Sound Does a Color Make?" Hearon has been teaching music technology at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa since 2005. He worked at Euphonix, Inc. and Dolby Laboratories in California, and has more than ten years of experience in the music industry. A strong improviser on the electric violin, Hearon is interested in realtime, interactive, and multimedia performance applications. His current research projects involve writing code for social research and practical applications for two- and three-dimensional graphical manipulation of sound as user interfaces for improvisation.
