John Hope Franklin: Foreign and Domestic Policies Lecture

Dr. John Hope Franklin, the Dan and Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals at UH Manoa, presents a public lecture entitled, "Where do we go from here? Some Reflections on Foreign and Domestic Policies."
Dr. Franklin is in residence as the Dan and Maggie Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals at UH Manoa from March 15-25. The James B. Duke Professor Emeritus of History at Duke University, Franklin is probably best known for his book "From Slavery to Freedom: A History of African-Americans," of which more than three million copies have been sold.
In addition to Duke University, Dr. Franklin has held department chairmanships at the University of Chicago and Brooklyn College, and also taught at Howard University. He has received more than 100 honorary degrees and numerous academic awards and medals. He also served as the advisory board chair to "One America: The President's Initiative on Race," a national effort launched by President Bill Clinton to deal with racial differences.
