Application of the Nonpoint Source Comparison Tool (N-SPECT) Pollution Model

Knowledge of the distribution of water quality can help resource managers and planners target critical areas of concern within a watershed and predict potential impacts of future land use change.

A workshop will be given to illustrate the application of the watershed model N-SPECT in the Wai’anaea watershed of Oahu. Baseline and land use change scenario analyses will be performed to demonstrate the application of N-SPECT in a management context. Results of the model are intended to be used as screening tools to help understand and predict the impacts of management decisions on water quality and, potentially, on nearshore coral health.

GIS experience is helpful, but not required.
