"Oceanic Expressions: Work from the Oceania Centre for Arts and Culture," by Katherine Higgins, UHM Center for Pacific Islands Studies.
The Oceania Centre for Arts and Culture is an innovative space nurturing a movement of contemporary art that invites tradition into the pressent. Located on the Laucala campus of the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji, the Oceania Centre is the actualization of Epeli Hau`ofa's vision for a renewed Oceania.
Graduate student Katherine Higgins will present a selection of art works by the Red Wave Collective artists from the Oceania Centre. She will also talk about the individual artists and the center's painting, sculpture, dance and music programs.
