Hawai'i Bibliovision, May 1, Olelo 55, 8 p.m.

The May 2007 episode of Hawai'i Bibliovision is a very special roundtable conversation featuring three critically-acclaimed poets, Robert Sullivan of the UH Manoa, English department and Vijay Seshadri and Mohit Prasad, visiting from their homes in New York and Fiji, respectively.

Seshadri teaches at Sarah Lawrence College. He is the author of The Long Meadow (2005) and Wild Kingdom (1996). Mohit Prasad teaches at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. His poetry collections include Eyes of the Mask (1998) and Eating Mangoes (2001) and A History of Soccer in Fiji (1998).

Seshadri and Prasad were invited to be featured presenters at the 23rd Annual Symposium of the Center for South Asian Studies (spring 2006). CSAS, consisting of educators from across the humanities at UH Manoa, is dedicated to deepening our understanding of South Asia—India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Afghanistan—and the significant contributions of these cultures to the rest of the world.

The May 2007 episode of Hawai'i Bibliovision is the finale of yet another successful season on Olelo 55. Airdates for summer re-runs will be announced in late May. Starting in September 2007, Hawai'i Bibliovision will enter its third season. Tune in on the first Tuesday of each month, at 8 pm, Olelo 55, for new episodes on some of the most creative and thought-provoking artists and scholars from around the world.

The Department of English wishes to thank Royd Liu, director of Distance Learning and User Services, and the crew members for Hawai'i Bibliovision for their assistance in bringing art and ideas to the community-at-large.
