Endangered Species Day at Lyon Arboretum

The U.S. Senate has unanimously declared Fri., May 18 "Endangered Species Day" a national celebration of America’s commitment to protecting and recovering our nation’s endangered species. In Hawai`i there are more endangered species per square mile than any other place on our planet, so efforts to protect this incredible biodiversity are extremely important.
Lyon Arboretum is pleased to announce the following activities for Endangered Species Day:
• “Our Kuleana” Endangered Species Poster Contest. The contest provides K-12 students an opportunity to convey their thoughts about protecting endangered Hawaiian plants. Posters will be displayed at the Lyon Arboretum beginning May 18 (see poster contest guidelines for more information)
• Guided Tours of the Lyon Arboretum’s gardens, featuring many of the endangered plants in the Arboretum’s collections (10 a.m.)
• Lyon Arboretum Micropropagation Lab Tour and Open House (9 a.m.)
• Lyon Arboretum/CCRT Seed Storage Lab Tour and Open House
